It all started with a Boxer dog named Brindel. As a first time dog parent I was not prepared to deal with her temper and her stomach issues which I later learned were directly related to each other. I struggled to find good, concise information on how I could help her feel better. I looked everywhere and I heard so many conflicting stories, I didn’t know where to begin!
When we added Porter, also a Boxer, to our family, we were told by his breeder, “don’t worry, there is no way a second Boxer would be riddled with the health issues that Brindel has!”. And she was right – he had many more… Then came Dante (A Boxer Mix) and with him a new bag of behavioural problems to sort out.
Between the three of my kids, we dealt with:
- Degenerative myopathy
- Stomach issues and Diarrhea
- Environmental allergies
- Unhealthy Weight Loss
- Chronic Vomiting
- Heart Failure
- Dog Acne and Yeast
- AND MORE
Now, I am a person that strongly believes that things happen for a reason, and my search for better information and products lead me to purchasing a health food store for pets and I spent years helping other pet parents in my predicament.
My own issues with anxiety, and eventually overnight hearing loss made the store a stressful place for me to be and my crew and I moved to BrindleBerry Acres for some solitude, peace, and quiet.
The acreage was like magic for myself and the kids. The quiet, the flowers, the bees, gardening and planting trees helped alleviate my stress and anxiety, and the exercise and healthy food regimen was helping the dogs too. We had found our bliss…
Fast forward a couple of years and our three babies decided it was time to cross the bridge and bring us three new angels to care for named Grizz, Kingsley and Pebbles.
But something was still missing and made me feel empty. I was happier – but I no longer had a way to reach and help other dog parents. And when I ventured into town and saw a dog being aggressively corrected at a stop light, or someone throwing a bag of grocery store kibble into their cart I no longer had a platform to educate and help those seeking a better way. I felt like I was letting my canine friends down.
Then the BrindleBerry Acres blog was born.
Here at BrindleBerry Acres we believe that we owe it to our dogs to be informed advocates for their health and well-being, but based on personal experience, we know it’s not always easy! So we created this platform to connect savvy dog parents like you, and conscientious dog brands. It’s a safe space with no judgement where our motto is “learn better, do better™”.
If you’re committed to becoming a more informed advocate for your dog, sign the promise, join the BrindleBerry Bunch and together let’s make our dog’s lives better!
